There was a time when all you had to do was to put on a long-sleeved T-shirt, grab a helmet, take a pair of gloves that were hanging around and decide on a whim to take part in the local motorcycle race… If you lived in California, this race could have been the Elsinore Grand Prix, where you could have rubbed shoulders with champions like Malcolm Smith on his Husqvarna 250 cross or even Steve McQueen… It was a different time…
